ONESBORO, Ga. — Police arrested five people during raids targeting illegal gambling at two Jonesboro businesses Wednesday night.

Officers said they also confiscated illegal video poker machines at Jan’s Billards, a pool hall on Noahs Ark Road and Our Place, a business on Highway 138 with dark paper blocking the windows. Our Place also features a sign advising customers to ring the bell and then wait to be buzzed in.

Tips from citizens and information from the Clayton County district attorney’s office led to the raids.

Police loaded up two large rental trucks with video poker machines they said they took from the two spots.

Police arrested Jan Riggi, 53, of Jonesboro, at Jan’s Billiards on charges of gambling, commercial gambling, keeping a place of gambling, and ownership, manufacturing, transfer or possession of gambling equipment

At Our Place, police arrested Brian Ellision, 37, of Jonesboro, Antonio Palacios-Lopez, 39 of Stockbridge and Ross Clarke, 36, of Jonesboro and charged them with gambling and commercial gambling. Norman J. Brown, 37, of Stockbridge was arrested at Our Place and charged with gambling, commercial gambling and keeping a place of gambling.

All the suspects were taken to the Clayton County Jail.
